CUMIN SEEDS

Cumin is a spice with a spicy and fragrant aroma, and is widely used in oriental cuisine.
An ingredient in curry, it is also used in brines and Mexican dishes such as chili con carne.
Cumin seeds are the seeds of the "caraway" plant, a delicate annual aromatic plant native to the Mediterranean and North Africa.
Also mentioned in the Old Testament, it is a very ancient and widespread spice all over the world:
in India as an ingredient in curry, in Morocco for the creation of chili con carne and kebabs, in Spain and Portugal to flavor sauces and vegetables.

Cumin is currently grown in hot, dry regions. The seeds are used, which are often confused for their similarity with those of kummel (caraway or German cumin) whose aroma is however quite different.
Be careful not to confuse cumin seeds with nigella sativa seeds, also called "black cumin seeds".
In fact, they are two different plants: cumin has brown seeds similar to those of fennel, while black cumin consists of small black seeds similar to black sesame and is less spicy.
