Selim Long Pepper

SELIM LONG PEPPER

Selim Pepper is the fruit of a plant of the magnolia family, native to Central Africa and Senegal (and not of the black pepper family, piper nigrum).
It has the shape of a small pod with a delicate and aromatic flavor, which contains small spicy seeds inside.
Its flavor is complex: the delicate nutty flavor of the external pod blends with the spiciness of the internal seeds.

 

How to use:

It is used whole or pounded in a mortar and is ideal for flavoring risottos, soups and stews, risottos and for flavoring tea and coffee.
The pod has a different flavor than the seeds, which is why they can be used separately.
For its particular and surprising taste it is highly appreciated by gourmet chefs.
